The Lofoten Islands
July 27th – August 2nd 2025

6 nights 7 days classic Norwegian hotels & traditional fisherman cottages
5-8 mile days spectacular scenery working fishing villages delicious regional cuisine restful afternoon yoga.

A flight from Oslo to Svolvaer will bring you above the Arctic Circle into the breathtaking Lofoten Islands. We will start our adventure in the hip fishing village of Henningsvaer and move southwards to Ballstad and finally to the southern most part of this 175 km archipelago to the striking mountains of Reine. We will trek the craggy peaks of this natural paradise as well as skirt along pristine beaches with glacial green waters and majestic fjords.

Our days will be full - morning meditations invigorating hiking - picnic lunches - afternoon yoga - traditional dinners with local ingredients - evening paddles in the Midnight Sun - sauna on the Norwegian Sea! Bliss!

About our trip

This is a strong, wonderful trip of hiking 5 -8 mile days with elevation gain and loss up to 2,000’. There will be support of luggage transferred daily to our next hotel. The scenery is spectacular as we will be hiking through a wonderful mix of dramatic mountains and peaks, jagged coastlines, sheltered bays and beaches, and wild land. Hikers should be in very good condition. The deep glacial fjords provide the opportunity for kayaking. We will be hiking at the peak of the Arctic summer where the weather is fresh with long days of light with the phenomenon of the midnight sun. Temperatures range from the low to high 50s F. Weather in the summer is warmer but variable. There can be wet and windy days as well as sunny mild ones. Most days we will be up on the trail after breakfast for a full day of amazing hiking - picnic lunches on the trail and onto our mats for a most welcome yoga stretch by 5pm. Dinners will be served at 7:00pm either in wonderful local restaurants or at our lovely fishermans cabins - rorbus.
